The New Arto: Inside the New Arto Motorhome Launching 2024
Niesmann + Bischoff have revealed a brand new Arto: the first liner motorhome on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis. This world-class vehicle available to order now, with a first look in the UK available at Erwin Hymer Centre Travelworld.
The brand new Arto is the product of Niesmann + Bischoff’s mission to “combine their latest liner with the innovative drive technology of Mercedes Benz.” It comes in two models: the more compact Arto 78, and the larger tandem-axle Arto 88, maintaining the brand’s trusted high-quality standard, plus some exciting new features.
The New Arto: Space and storage
As the first liner on a Mercedes chassis in the Arto range, this model certainly not short of space. Standing at 2.4 metres wide, travelling family and friends will have plenty of room to relax and unwind.
To help optimise the space even further, the new Arto has an abundance of hidden storage. There is a large storage space in the double floor with two optional pull-out boxes hidden behind the high skirt flaps – one at the front, one at the back.
It also comes with a spacious garage with a storage volume up to 3,000 litres. This has a Smart door with electric opening controlled by sensors to avoid collisions with the lateral flap (available in the Liner Pack).
The New Arto: Liner technology
The motorhome comes with intuitive light concept with night sensors and real glass switches, plus floor heating with Alde warm water as an optional add-on. The outside of the vehicle is robust and ready, with a 30mm sandwich construction for the side panels, garage flaps, underfloor and roof, topped with a gel coat sealing and high side skirts with insulated bus flaps.
The New Arto: Tank and battery power
The Arto tank capacity is the biggest in its product area, making it perfect for those long journeys and weekends in the wild. It has a 300-litre freshwater tank, 200 litre waste water tank with a 170-litre toilet tank and 50 litre / 20 kg as optional upgrades.
The motorhome has a50 Ah lithium battery as standard, but a Lithium Energy Pack is available as an additional upgrade, including two lithium batteries, a charging booster, a battery monitor and battery management panel, combi charger and more.
The New Arto: Assistance systems
The New Arto comes with a whole host of driving assistance systems, including:
- Intelligent Speed Assistance that can read the speed limit from road signs using a camera and speed limit alerts
- Active lane departure assistant
- Attention Assistance warning against fatigue and microsleep
- Active brake assistant to help prevent accidents with vehicles ahead and crossing pedestrians
- Side wind assistant (only available from Mercedes for single axle models)
- Mercedes-Benz emergency call system
The New Arto also comes with Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC in the Driving Comfort Pack, which maintains the programmed distance to the vehicle in front and accelerates or brakes automatically to maintain a safe distance, ideal for motorway journeys or stop/start traffic.
In the Driving Comfort Pack, you can also get Traffic Sign Assist, which shows detected speed limits as well as “no entry” or “no overtaking” sign, again perfect for journeys with frequently changing traffic signs or in roadworks.
The New Arto: App connected
New this year for Niesmann and Bischoff is their brand-new app. Available on any phone device, this app will allow you to control the key features in the motorhome. Operating via a control electronics unit (SCU) that contains a SIM card and radio module, you can use the app to:
- Start the heating in the motorhome whilst you are still out
- Control the water levels (fresh & waste water) & gas level (bottles and/or tank)
- Switch the water pump on and off
- Keep an eye on the interior temperature via smart phone
- Adjust the lighting
- Set up coming home, departure or going to bed scenarios
- Receive notification alerts
The app can also show you the motorhome’s location, provide helpful travel guidance and locate the nearest dealer or service workshop if you ever need it.
